Thank you, Dr Martel, for keeping a pulse here. I’ve been asked to compile a list of the best places to see music in Chicago. Please check my logic and fill in any gaps that I’ve missed. Yeah, and I guess we can consider the entire concert-going experience here. Can that can be measured regardless of music? I dunno – anyway…here goes:

Theatre: not necessarily w/ seats, but capacity at greater than 500 people?

1st Chicago International Movies & Music Festival

CIMMFEST is this weekend.

This is the newest project from The M’s guitar and vocal section – Josh Chicoine. In this time of great depression he’s found sponsorship and help to throw a full blown international festival here in Chicago – which could be just the first of many (by the look of the roster).

This is going on all weekend – Thursday through Sunday – and happening all over the city – from the Cultural Center downtown to Schubas. I plan on attending a few things. On Friday I plan to see the Richard Bellia show (rock photography spanning the past 40 years) and on Sat the Encyclopaedia Pictura event – both are at the Th!nkArt Salon.

So, this is the band I’ve been most excited to see live in maybe, oh – the past year. Arm’s Way is nothing short of a fucking great album.

I plan on taking a bunch of photos and (if I can swing it) jumping up on stage ala the Matt & Kim show – it’d help if I had some crazy dancers backing me up – we must have distractions – who’s in?
