1st Chicago International Movies & Music Festival

This is the newest project from The M’s guitar and vocal section – Josh Chicoine. In this time of great depression he’s found sponsorship and help to throw a full blown international festival here in Chicago – which could be just the first of many (by the look of the roster).

This is going on all weekend – Thursday through Sunday – and happening all over the city – from the Cultural Center downtown to Schubas. I plan on attending a few things. On Friday I plan to see the Richard Bellia show (rock photography spanning the past 40 years) and on Sat the Encyclopaedia Pictura event – both are at the Th!nkArt Salon.

Joachim (Cast) and I are working on this song called Bacon Man. It’s about Obama. Here’s the “sketch” of how the song / video’s going to look. We’re going to shoot new video and put some real vocals on the chorus. Leah and Lauren are the vocals on the “who’s that in the kitchen makin’ something sizzlin’” intro …

This ran in New City a few weeks ago. Parts of it I like, parts of it notsomuch. You?

Each square inch is ashed with molecular history, subatomic particulars, this home-away-from-homeliness. Themes, variations: How many Beckys have sat in Booth One? A Tom flirting like mad with no expectation beyond being heard? And legs furled, calves bared in chilly night, what is this especial Amy specifically onto? (Did she really date Hans?) Are any of the words in the air at this moment approaching language or is everything the gentle of gesture, the dance of reflection? This is like long-form serial TV, only with potential for touching.
