Denver Invasion!

Who’s up for a Denver invasion the weekend of September 12-14?

The Fire are playing on Sunday afternoon, so I am planning on heading out there for the weekend to see the game and visit our beloved drinkingsoundtrack colorado contingent.

I am sure there will be cows and craziness, and you should be there! Tickets are only $137 on northwest right now.

I was planning on flying out Friday morning or afternoon, and home Sunday after the game. Whatcha think?

I’d prefer to fly out Thursday night If we plan to skip work on Friday morning but it’s really up to Joe because he might not want us invading Denver if he has to work Friday!

Okay, if Murph doesn’t care if we crash there thursday night, I might do that so we can have an extra day.

I will probably book tomorrow.

Thinking of flying out on Frontier flight 543 at 7 pm on Thursday. Will fly back on flight 537 at 7:10 pm on Sunday. The total comes to about $250 with fees and taxes.

There is also a 6:15 am on Monday morning that gets you into Chicago at around 9:30 and saves you about $60, so that’s also an option.

If others are thinking of getting in on Thursday night, maybe we could rent a car and drive into the mountains for a day. Go hiking at Rocky Mountain National Park or something!

By: jj - What happened to the 'I'm listening to this' crap? Tom turned me onto the new Islands. The second half of the album is good in an old destroyer sort of way. The first half is more poppy, but still good. Also - the new Spiritualized is lovey-dovey-druggy good.

Here's a couple reviews: http://www.austinsound.net/2008/08/14/sunset-the-glowing-city-autobus/ http://tinymixtapes.com/Sunset,6667 It's hard to compare it to anything, it has a bit of a Bowie/Kinks vibe, and whoever plays guitar definitely steals a few tricks from Jonny Greenwood, but it's really jammed with tons of engaging and multi-faceted parts and hooks galore. It's long, but there's not much wasted movement or repetition. It's exactly what a rock record should be, and will probably be my #1 at the end of the year.
