   i’m having trouble finding any passenger vans at the denver airport. i went to the avis, budget, hertz, dollar, ez, and national websites and zilch. themountainsusa.com website says that it can get a 15 passenger van, but it would cost the same to get 2 cars. question: do we want to rent 2 cars or use murph’s car along with a rental? and yes, that means we can race.

   I am renting a small SUV – but that will only be from Sat morning (when I arrive) until Tues night (when I leave).

    Dana and I were planning on bringing our skis. So that is a space consideration as well. However, both of us are willing to rent if there isn’t room to lug them out there in the car.

    Tom, it’s 25.7 miles from the airport to my place, which makes it a $50 cab ride or so. There are six of you coming in Friday night, right? I can take two or three in my car (possibly four), if the others want to take a rental device back.

    I am concerned about the prospects of accessing pony-keg-in-the-car, however.

    I can book the car if no one else can. There is an SUV that can fit 7 people and it may be better for mt. driving but it is a little more expensive than a minivan. ($434.16/84.66 a day vs. $308.95/59.77 a day). Both fit 7 people. Let me know if you guys want me to book it and which one everyone would prefer. If someone knows of something cheaper let me know.

    If someone else wants to handle this go ahead but I will if we need someone to put it on their card.

    if murph is willing to pick a us up on friday, we don’t have to get anything bigger than a 5-seater suv. also, for an extra 40 bucks or so, hertz will ski equip the rental. this means snow tires and ski rack. if we are bringing skis, i think this is definatley the way to go.

    Yo Bausers – I might be able to get us a 2nd SUV for $50 a day. The thing is I will have to be there in person to get the deal and I don’t get in till Saturday morning.

    2. If I can get it, I need a volunteer to be at the airport w/ me Saturday morning to drive the SUV back to Joes/Mtn/Skeet range.

    Its up to Joe…..he is the one that will have to drive back to the airport so that one of us can drive the second SUV. I am willing to pick it up if everyone prefers to save some money.

    Personally, I think the extra few bucks are worth the saved time and inconvenience of driving back out to the airport.

    The fewer trips the better, and if we don’t get cars until Saturday that means either two-plus airport trips Friday night or a $50 cab ride … we could do a smaller SUV too, no? I vote minivan or smaller SUV on Friday.

    Ha! I actually have no idea what is going on either.

    I think this is the State of Affairs:
    There are eight of us going to the mountains, right? So we definitely need two cars. So JJ, yes, rent your car.
    We will rent a second one and take two cars to the resort.

    The remaining question is whether the six of us that are all flying in friday can all squeeze into one rental, or whether we need the rental plus joe’s wheels.

    Also, we must rent said rental at some point.

    yes, that’s a well deserved law degree. the best price i found is through thrifty. $345 for a ski-eqipped grand cherokee. the bags should definately fit. we’ll just have to squeeze 4 in the back to get to joe’s.

    I put together a mini photo-guide to help with the (easiest part of the) driving tonight (basically, the part of the drive when you’re on my street). It was light out when I took the photos though, so just imagine it dark. How to get to my place, kind of.
