the polyphonic spreeeeee
some of you may hate the polyphonic spree, but i’ve gotta get this off my chest. pitchfork just reviewed the Wait EP today and failed to mention something: their cover of Nirvana’s Lithium is one of the greatest gimmick covers ever. the chorus is just soooo awesome. the rest of the EP gets me pretty excited for the upcoming LP, The Fragile Army; my biggest problem with the band in the past was with their muddy/indifferent production values. that’s not the case here. these 5 songs all sound great. there’s still 20+ musicians, but there’s gaps where there should be and the rhythm section is more powerful than on the first two records. get it!
